Key Takeaways

Industrial Hemp Product Sales at Regulated Marijuana Stores:

  • Medical Marijuana Stores may sell Industrial Hemp Products.
  • Retail Marijuana Stores may not sell Industrial Hemp Products until July 1, 2020.
  • Starting July 1, 2020, Medical and Retail Marijuana Stores may sell Industrial Hemp Products, but prior to sale, they are required to verify that Industrial Hemp Products have passed all required testing at a Medical or Retail Marijuana Testing Facility.

What testing is required?

Where can I source Industrial Hemp Products?

    • Biomass, industrial hemp concentrate, or Industrial Hemp Products must be sourced from a Colorado-based business that is registered with the Colorado Department of Agriculture for biomass/plant material and the CDPHE for industrial hemp concentrates or products.

Industrial Hemp Product Used as an Ingredient in Regulated Marijuana Concentrate and Product:

  • Effective July 1, 2020, Medical Marijuana Products Manufacturers and Retail Marijuana Products Manufacturers may use Industrial Hemp Products as an ingredient in Regulated Marijuana Concentrate and Regulated Marijuana Product only if the Industrial Hemp Product passes all mandatory testing.
  • The CDPHE encourages licensees to start testing any Industrial Hemp Products it uses as an ingredient as soon as possible, and to acquire Industrial Hemp Product only from someone registered with the CDPHE.

Not registered with the CDPHE?

If your Industrial Hemp or Industrial Hemp Product business is located in another state or not registered with the CDPHE, we recommend testing your products through our sister laboratory, Botanacor.

Botanacor is an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory with A2LA and follows the same stringent testing framework that Agricor Laboratories employs. Botanacor is the leading hemp and CBD product testing laboratory in North America and is positioned to be ready for USDA hemp testing requirements that will launch in 2020.
